wedge wire screen filter elements

Dec. 18, 2025

Wedge wire screen filter elements refer to filter components made of wedge-shaped wires, also known as wedge wire filters. They are widely used in various industrial fields due to their unique structure and excellent performance. The following is a detailed introduction:

Structure:They are mainly composed of two parts, namely winding wires and support bars. The support bars can be round wires, but more commonly, they are V-shaped wires, and the screen wires are also V-shaped wires. This structure makes the screen gap precise and the filtration accuracy high.

Working Principle:The V-shaped wires are accurately welded to the cross support bars to control the distance between the V-shaped wires, which is the slot opening. During the filtration process, the fluid passes through the slot opening, and solid particles are intercepted by the wires due to their larger size, thus achieving the separation of solids and liquids.

Features:They have the advantages of high strength, high hardness, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, uniform gap, good permeability, and easy cleaning. The outer-wide and inner-narrow design of the wedge-shaped wires not only improves the dehydration efficiency but also effectively avoids blockage.

Filtration Accuracy:The filtration accuracy range is wide, generally between 25-800μm, and can be customized according to specific application requirements.

Materials:Commonly used materials include low-carbon steel, stainless steel 304, 316, and 316L. Stainless steel materials are widely used due to their good corrosion resistance.

Application Fields:They are widely used in the petroleum industry, serving as sand control screens in oil wells and water wells; in the chemical industry, for the screening of liquids and solids and the collection of filter materials such as resins; and in the environmental protection industry, for efficiently filtering impurities in water and sewage treatment. They are also used in industries such as mining, coal, fertilizer, food, and salt.
